Her Journey

Until June 30, 2008 I really didn't know much about hip dysplasia. I had three girls and each time I watched the doctors do the hip test when they were born. I heard them say everything is okay so I took my sweet pink bundle of joy home each time and never thought twice about it.

I know there are worst things in the world- heck I could make a list for you. But honestly there is nothing worst in the world when the minute, that very second that doctor comes in that door and tells you there is something terribly wrong with your child. Nothing else matters.

So one dark day we took our baby girl to the OR and she came out with the ugliest most awful pink cast I could imagine.

Four cast changes, five time under anesthesia, one week long hospital stay due to a staph infection and more xrays than I have had in my lifetime.

But yes life does go on. Kassie ignored the stares and whispers. She learned the impossible was possible. She learned to army crawl, flip her self over, stand, climb the stairs and two weeks before her cast came off she took a few steps- in the cast!!! She never once stopped smiling or laughing.

Then *finally* 23 weeks later our sweet angels day came.......

I wish her journey was over, but we have to hope and pray that everything stays in place and her little sockets grow so she will not have to endure another surgery. Until that day we will hold our little girl close and never lose hope or faith in the bravest little angel we know......

WE LOVE YOU KASSIE!!!!
